ABOUT HEPATITIS B
What is Hepatitis B?
Hepatitis B is a chronic liver disease, caused by the hepatitis B virus. If it is left untreated, it can lead to an increased risk of liver cancer, cirrhosis, or even death.

by sharing bodily fluids such as blood
from mother to baby, most common in the Asian population
How to Treat and Prevent Getting Hepatitis B?
You can get tested for Hepatitis B with just a simple blood draw. There are free screening clinics available. However, the most important aspect of this disease is that it is most prevalent in Asian American communities, especially Asian immigrant families who came to America at a young age. Treatments for Hep-B include antiviral therapy, which works similar to antibiotics. It is important to note that this virus is not curable, so treatment is often long term and often life time. However, there are accessible vaccines that work to prevent getting the virus at all.
